Team Selection and Eligibility Criteria

Section 1: Eligibility for Shooting for England
To be eligible to shoot for England, you must:

  • Be affiliated with an English Region and
  • Meet at least one of the following:
  • Be born in England
  • Have a parent or grandparent born in England
  • Have lived in England for at least one year before the event

Section 2: Team Selection
If the selection criteria can’t be followed due to time constraints, the Archery England Team Selection Panel can make necessary decisions.

Section 3: Tournament Entry Requirements
Applies to all archers (senior and junior):

  • Must have entered the event (unless it’s a stand-alone tournament)
  • Must have confirmation of a place at the event
  • Must not be on a waiting list for the event

Section 4: Senior Archers
For Home Nations Indoor & Outdoor Target events:

  • Must not have represented GB in target archery as a senior in the last 12 months
  • Other than Barebow Archers (as there is no opportunity to shoot for GB outdoors)
  • Scores must be from WRS events and submitted before the deadline
  • Must confirm their place at the tournament if selected

Section 5: Commonwealth Archery Championships of Europe (CACE)

  • Archers who have represented GB as a senior in the last 12 months may submit scores
  • Junior archers who represented GB as juniors in the last 12 months are eligible for senior selection but not junior selection
  • Junior archers who represented GB as seniors in the last 12 months are not eligible for senior or junior selection

Section 6: Junior Archers

  • Must be at least 13 years old on the first day of the event
  • Maximum age: 18 for Archery GB and Home Nations events, 21 for World Archery and international events
  • Must enter the appropriate age round
  • Junior archers who represented GB as juniors in the last 12 months are eligible for senior but not junior selection
  • Junior archers who represented GB as seniors in the last 12 months are eligible for junior but not senior selection
  • Archers who represented GB as juniors and seniors in the last 12 months are not eligible for either
  • Scores must be submitted before the deadline

Archery England Training Camp Selection

Section 7: Training Camp Eligibility
Open to all senior (adult) Archery England affiliated archers:

  • Must not have represented GB in target archery as a senior in the last 12 months
  • Must not have regular access to Archery GB coaching facilities
  • Must have submitted scores for Archery England rankings or tournaments in the last 12 months

Section 8: Selection Process

  • Top 3 ranked archers by category and gender who meet the criteria will get first refusal for training camps
  • Top 3 scores submitted from the previous 12 months competitions
  • Efforts will be made to use these criteria wherever possible

Section 9: Special Invitations
Archery England may invite archers to training camps if time constraints would impact participation.

Section 10: Junior Archers

  • Not eligible for training camps due to safeguarding guidelines
